Confidential Defence Base – Embedding Quality to Restore Confidence

Stabilising performance through programme-wide quality management.

Overview

Peractio was engaged by the MEP contractor delivering a major UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) base development
comprising eight buildings constructed concurrently.

The Challenge

Quality control issues, conflicting standards, and stakeholder tension caused rework, schedule creep, and
inefficiency. Multiple assets were being delivered concurrently under tight security protocols.

Our Approach

We conducted a programme-level quality reset, forming a QA/QC and commissioning team across all assets,
streamlining communications via the project’s incumbent project management software, and implementing
tracking and audit systems. Our QCx team became the focal point for quality engagement with the Clerk of Works.

Results

Rejected inspections fell from 70% to below 20%, with critical issues under 5%. Programmes stabilised,
milestones met, and stakeholder alignment improved, leading to smoother handovers.
